on being unassuming

Mike used to be married and live in Vancouver, Canada. Then he got divorced and moved to Xiamen, China. How’s that for making a major life change? Mike often writes on Facebook about the cultural idiosyncrasies he observes. And he has a tendency to be unassuming and self-effacing.
I really appreciated the comment he made about hearing Simon and Garfunkel sing “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” in an elevator in Xiamen:
I’m not completely unfamiliar with the complexities of the various theories of globalization—I know, for instance, that it’s a small world after all…
Thank you, Mike, for that.
